A Month to celebrate the indigenous people of Australia

The Australia’s Aboriginal society has been organizing  festivals annually around the Month of November to celebrate the history, culture and art of the Aboriginal people. The event is marked through parades, workshops, dancing, singing and storytelling. All these activities are held to celebrate the diversity of the Aboriginal tribes in Australia in the whole of Australia.

The Aborigines are the first inhabitants of the Australia continent and have had to work hard to retain their culture, language and identity. With the coming of other people to Australia and with them western education, the way of life of the indigenous tribes has been under threat.
It is on this historical and cultural backdrop that the The Australia’s Aboriginal society found it necessary to organize an annual festival in the city of Sydney and others across the country in order to celebrate and also help conserve their identity. They also invite people from other cultures both in Australia and other countries around the world to come and share in their way of life and hear their stories.

Between 14 to 24 November, the city of Sydney will come alive with this festival. Various locations within the city will hold special occasion activities. These locations and sites include the Art Gallery of NSW, State Library and Sydney Opera House.

This being a public event, you will need to make your own arrangements to attend it. The entry to most of the locations in Sydney where events for the festivals are held are free. There are numerous accommodation facilities in the city of Sydney. Transportation around the city is available in form of train, taxis and buses.

Attending the Aboriginal festival, will let you appreciate the indigenous people of Australia by learning their culture and way of life. You will have a chance feel their experiences as a people.
