Some people get their kicks in danger. They live for the adrenaline rush that is accompanied by being in the presence of danger. I doubt there is anything as dangerous as the sea carnivore - shark. This carnivorous fish seems to have an insatiable pleasure in taunting its prey and then move in for the kill. It relishes every moment that its prey writhes in pain. So, how would you love to turn the predator into the prey? Welcome to the Southern Africa country of Namibia which, together with South Africa boasts a sea basin that is home to 40 percent of the world's population of sharks.

For the purposes of clarity, do not under any circumstances think that the sharks will go down without a fight. You will have the battle of your life. However, the adrenaline rush caused by being close to the jaws of the great sea monster is more than worth it.

So where in Namibia do you get this shark fishing experience? One popular destination is at Mola Mola Shark Fishing which advises the tourist to visit their camp from September through April in order to have the best experience. Here, you can expect to catch edible Kob, Copper Sharks, Steenbras, Gully Sharks, among others. For 7 days of fishing, you will part with US$1975.

Another popular destination is the Fisherman's Guesthouse in Hentiesbay. Here, you will spend about US$2,000 for a 10 day shark fishing experience. The popular species here are the Bronzy Whaler Shark, the Copper Shark, the Spotted Shark and the Gully shark.

Other popular species of sharks that you can fish at the Namibian coast include; Sand Shark, Blacktail, Galjoen and Barbel. The Henties Bay is by far the most popular beach to set up a shark fishing expedition. It is on the outskirts of the Namib Desert and boasts grey sandy beaches.
