1. Pearl Islands

Until around the 1500's, the Pearl Islands were in habited by the local Indians. It is in the 1500's that the Spanish Conquistadors discovered the pearls and with that came a lot of Europeans. Today, the islands are a hotbed of tourist activities. The most preferred of the Islands is Contadora Island. The Islands attracts all kind of holiday makers from honeymooners to surfers. They boast lush green forest vegetation and sandy beaches.

2. The Amador Causeway

This causeway connects the three islands with the Panama Canal. It offers breathtaking sights of the Panama Canal Ship traffic as well as the Panama City skyline. It is the best to do a morning jog, take pictures as well as enjoy the views.

3. Volcan Baru

This is the highest point in Panama. It is located in Chiriqui Province. It offers visitors to Panama the ultimate hiking challenge. It is also an important water tower as the dormant volcano thermic waters feed the streams that meanders through the country.

4. San Blas Islands

These Islands are the best place to experience the culture of the local people of Kuna. The islands have been fiercely protected by the Kuna people thus retaining their natural beauty. For a small fee, visitors are allowed the use of the islands and their beaches for duration of one day.

5. The Panama Canal

If you miss out on everything else, do not miss the sight of the Ships sailing along the Panama Canal. The canal is one of the most magnificent human inventions, rivalled only by the Suez Canal of Egypt. From the top of Miraflores Locks Museum, visitors can view the whole expanse of the canal. For those that prefer actual exploration, it will take 3-4 hours.
